Travel Hack: How to get 100,000 United Miles without a credit card

(Or as I like to call it, 3 for 1 Business Class.)

I recently clicked on an Instagram ad from United Airlines that brought me to an awesome offer: 100,000 United MilegePlus miles! When I clicked the link I was brought to a page where I was prompted to put in my United MilegePlus number (I verified the site before proceeding) and was presented with the deal (link at bottom). The offer was recorded in my account and I also got an email confirmation, pretty straight forward if I say so!

The only catch is you have to purchase one transcontinental business class ticket between July 1st 2017 and October 31st 2017. There are no other sign up’s, credit cards, or shadow deals to this. If you’re like me and you live on the west coast and you visit the east coast pretty often then this deal is amazing.

What can you do with 100,000 United MileagePlus Points? How about a roundtrip in business class from LAX to Newark? Most days I find it only costs 50K points each way for a single business class trip. I know that flight time dearly, anywhere between 5 and 6 hours, not to mention the time sitting on the tarmac at LAX! I’ve done it dozens of times and it’s even worse in coach!

The price for a transcontinental business class ticket isn’t that bad if you have some flexibility in your schedule. I’ve seen flights from LAX to EWR for around $500. Paired with the 100K miles and if you purchase 2 more business class flights that comes to about $166 for each business class ticket (give or take minimal fees). That sounds like a pretty awesome deal to me!

Now I know United has gotten flack lately for how customers are treated. It’s brutal all over I know, most of my time traveling is in a fully packed flight on (insert any major airline) in a middle seat in coach with no recline and a kid kicking my seat. For the money/points you can’t beat United’s Business Class product. A meal, drinks, and a seat that reclines into a bed beats anything where I’m squished in the back like cattle sitting next to a drunk guy who has figured out how to fart and talk at the same time.

Also remember United has revamped their Business Class product with an overhaul of seats, service, and amenities with their Polaris brand. I haven’t tried it yet but I’ve heard good things.

My final note on this amazing deal is that it looks as though the offers are targeted since the 100K miles wasn’t promised until after I put in my frequent flyer number. Sometimes airlines do this to drum up cash or to get more loyal customers. Either way, you have nothing to lose, and I have nothing to gain since I took the link directly from the instagram ad.

I’ve already signed up for this offer and I’m already planning on using the 100K United MileagePlus miles to fly me and my girlfriend from LAX to Newark for our friends wedding in New York City, it’s going to be great!
