Travelear ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Travelear mobile application (iOS and Android) and website at thetravelear.com. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.
By using Travelear, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account information: When you create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo. You may also provide a bio and location for your public profile.
- Creator content: If you are a creator, we collect audio files and metadata (title, description, location, tags, cover images) that you upload.
- Payment information: Subscriptions are processed by the App Store or Google Play. We do not store credit card numbers. Creator payouts are managed by Stripe Connect.
- Communications: Messages sent to nick@thetravelear.com or nick@mykaimo.com.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: Tracks played, listening duration, qualified plays (30+ seconds), playlists created, and feature interactions.
- Device information: Device type, OS version, app version, and device identifiers for analytics and crash reporting.
- Push notification tokens for delivering notifications.
- Crash and performance data via Firebase Crashlytics.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve our services
- Process subscriptions and manage account access
- Calculate and distribute creator earnings
- Send push notifications about new content and features
- Aggregate anonymous analytics for creators
- Detect and prevent fraud via Firebase App Check
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers: Firebase (Google), RevenueCat, Stripe, and Expo
- Creators: Aggregated and anonymized data only (play counts, listening duration). We do not share individual listener identities.
- Law enforcement when required by law
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Play count records are retained for creator earnings calculations. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which permanently removes your personal data, profile, playlists, and listening history.
5. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication via Firebase, Firebase App Check for request validation, and optional two-factor authentication. File uploads are validated for type and size (500 MB audio, 10 MB images).
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: View your profile, listening history, and playlists in the app
- Correction: Update your profile information at any time
- Deletion: Delete your account from the Profile screen (permanent)
- Notifications: Disable push notifications in device settings
7. Children's Privacy
Travelear is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.
8. International Data Transfers
Travelear is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
